Black stuff on my flat iron?

There is a gooey black substance on my flat iron after i use it and im not sure what is it? I have a ceramic flat iron and ive used one since i was like 12 im now 14. I clean it like once a week so its not collective or anything, its directly after i use it... any ideas what it is?
