Could someone help me understand this movie?

I've seen this movie twice and I am still a little confused by it. I am a real movie buff and I love surreal strange movies but this ones storyline was hard to follow. Sorry I can't be of any help but I love this movie anyway! The trippy scenery is fun to watch. Terry Gilliam always makes awesome movies.
