Why are cats (and other animals) beautiful to humans?

Well humans are naturally social creatures. And dogs were domesticated before history was written. It could be the use of potential hunting partners. But i think it's probably something like we think babies are cute so we take care of them. So when we see another small animal it reminds us of babies and causes the desire to nurture them
